Hon Hai has announced its collaboration with Porotech to enter the AR glasses market. The two parties will accelerate their strategic layout in AR and Micro LED. They also plan to establish a Micro LED wafer manufacturing line in Taichung, Taiwan Province. Production is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2025. Porotech is a high-tech British company established in 2018. It was spun off from the University of Cambridge in 2019 and is engaged in Micro LED technology research and development. It has porous gallium nitride material technology and dynamic pixel tuning technology for red Micro LED. Hon Hai’s AR glasses strategy starts with display technology. Currently, XR devices are evolving from “helmets” to “glasses” in form. The “light and thin” Micro LED technology has become one of the key layout directions for terminal manufacturers.
